About Claudia
I have a bachelor's in architecture from Texas Tech and came from the trucking world - I grew up with semi-trucks with my parents, and my dad transferred that business over to me and I ran it. I was sitting on City Council and got sworn in in February of 2020, right before COVID hit. I was serving an expired term, so I didn't get the full city council experience, but I definitely came to the realization that I really enjoyed helping people and customer service - that's always been a part of me. When I left my seat from City Council, I decided I wanted to teach social studies and become a high school history teacher. My ideal plan was to be able to teach and be able to serve, and I'm running again this year. I got certified to be a social studies teacher, but the school districts are having budget issues and they're not hiring teachers, they're letting go of a lot of teachers, so I haven't been able to find work as a social studies teacher. About 2 years ago, I decided to get licensed in life, health, property, casualty - any insurance you could think of, I can sell it. I've always been very entrepreneurial, and I started my own insurance business using the contacts I had and going out there and networking and finding people. This past open enrollment season, I did really well for it being my first official one by myself. I started my own LLC in March. First and foremost, I am a mom - I start with my kids, getting them ready for school, taking them to school, and then just looking for leads, enrolling people, informing people. I'm always educating myself on how I can help people more, where can I find people, where can I get these leads. I'm a go-getter - anytime I get a little light bulb moment, I go after it and chase that lead and accomplish it. I'm very outgoing and not afraid.
