I started 12 years ago as a receptionist, got promoted to customer service after 6 months, then customer service manager after 4 years. Then moved into sales and became Director of Business Development. I oversee a team of four customer service girls, a logistics coordinator, a sales engineer. I organize 5 to 7 trade shows a year.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my curiosity. I'm always curious about everything and want to get involved. I'm a fast learner with an excellent work ethic. I'm a company person who values my team and makes sure everything runs smoothly even when I'm traveling for trade shows.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received was from my boss when moving into this position: never give up. He told me they'll listen one day, which helped me change my perspective and succeed in this industry.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just show what we're capable of. We gotta be very resilient in this world. Nowadays everything is changing where we are more recognized for what we bring to the table. It's always good to see women succeed and be very strong and supportive of each other.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Being a woman in a man's world in the railroad industry has been challenging, especially when starting trade shows. Guys in the field would question if a woman knows about railroads, but I've shown that I do.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value the people around me, especially at work. I emphasize being on time, finding solutions, and asking questions if you don't know. In my personal life, I pride myself on being very loyal and very honest, which helps build reliable relationships with co-workers and my boss.
