Her Interview
Ten minutes with Cleo
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my parents and the strong work ethic they instilled in me. Growing up with business owner parents taught me what a work ethic is and what it means to put in a full day's work.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women not to get discouraged by the male domination in the industry. There is value in going towards the blue collar industry because it gives female skilled workers a lot of opportunity to get in there and be taken seriously quickly. Keep your Indeed up to date and put your skills down on paper. Document things and save compliments in your personal files so you can market yourself effectively.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is the skill level in the younger generation and the knowledge gap of what defines a skilled worker. The opportunity is to make a lot of money with skill since it is rare, giving skilled workers the chance to excel quickly.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Healthy work-life balance is most important, which I learned through my parents' unhealthy work-life balance. Also, keeping a professional relationship with all the people that you're working with and not crossing that line too heavily.
