Professionalism isn't about hiding my humanity, it's about using it with intention. Connection isn't the opposite of professionalism. It's part of the work.

Her Story

About Cloe

Cloe Egnaczak is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly six years of experience in the mental health field, providing compassionate and evidence-based support to individuals and families navigating complex emotional and behavioral health challenges. She earned both her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) from North Carolina Central University, completing her undergraduate studies in 2019 and her Advanced Standing Master of Social Work program in 2020. Her clinical career began in high-acuity environments, including hospitals, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and in-home services, before expanding into outpatient mental health and private practice.

In her current private practice role, which she began in November 2025, Cloe provides individual therapy to clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, PTSD, substance use concerns, and postpartum and perinatal mental health challenges. In addition to direct clinical care, she trains clinicians in therapeutic modalities, develops professional and marketing materials, and organizes educational lunch-and-learn sessions that connect mental health professionals with community providers. She has a particular passion for group therapy and clinician development and is pursuing her Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) to further specialize in perinatal mood and mental health disorders. Her therapeutic approach incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), trauma-informed care, and other evidence-based practices.

Cloe’s professional philosophy is grounded in direct communication, respect, curiosity, openness, and a genuine commitment to helping others. She credits the support of her stepmother and mentor, Max Shafir, as important influences on her professional growth and success. Beyond her clinical practice, she is passionate about mental health advocacy and supporting efforts that improve access, quality, and sustainability of care for both clients and clinicians. She is a member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society and supports the National Association of OCD through annual walks and fundraising initiatives. Looking ahead, Cloe sees a significant opportunity in mental health care to balance the needs of clients with the well-being of clinicians, recognizing that sustainable support for providers is essential to delivering compassionate, high-quality care.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Cloe

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my stepmom and my mentor. Without those two in my life, I wouldn't have made it as far as I have. They're my rock, my foundation and they push me when needed. They know me best.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that even on my worst days, I am still helping someone. That perspective reminds me that the work I do has meaning, even when the day feels challenging. It encourages me to remain present, compassionate, and committed to supporting others, knowing that even a small positive impact can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't get discouraged when you hit obstacles. Surround yourself with a strong group of people and just keep going because you're going to feel so much better as a woman. You're going to feel more independent and the autonomy will come.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunity is to not only focus on the client, but focusing on the clinician as well. You can't have one or the other, they both need to be talked about.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Direct communication, respect, curiosity, openness and helping people are the values that are most important to me.
