About Colette
Colette Castillo is an experienced executive and personal assistant with a background that bridges education and high-level administrative support. She currently serves as an Executive and Personal Assistant to a CEO and founder in the telecom/technology space. In this hybrid role, she provides both personal and executive support, including coordinating domestic and international meetings, managing CRM systems and account cleanup, and handling day-to-day personal tasks such as errands and scheduling support.
She brings over nine years of combined experience in professional administration and executive support, having worked with C-suite leaders across industries including law, telecom, mass tort litigation funding, and medical staffing. Her approach is centered on being responsive, dependable, and discreet while supporting both business and personal priorities. She is highly adaptable, often stepping into unfamiliar environments and quickly learning the systems and expectations needed to effectively support leadership. She values service as a core part of her work, finding purpose in helping others stay organized, focused, and successful.
Colette began her career in education after earning her bachelor’s degree in 2012, graduating with a double major in Psychology and Elementary Education from New Jersey. She holds dual certifications as a New Jersey State certified teacher of Students with Disabilities and Elementary Education (K–5). After transitioning out of teaching, she built a career in executive and administrative support, where she has continued to grow her skills across multiple industries while maintaining a strong foundation in communication, structure, and professionalism.

Ten minutes with Colette
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to maintaining a strong, positive attitude and remaining calm under pressure, regardless of the circumstance. I strive to be approachable and highly responsive, ensuring open communication and collaboration with others. My dependability and trustworthiness allow others to rely on me with confidence, and I take pride in consistently following through on every task from start to finish, ensuring completion, accountability, and high-quality results.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is the importance of strong, timely communication specifically choosing to call rather than rely solely on text or email when issues arise. Reaching out by phone as quickly as possible helps prevent misunderstandings, allows for faster resolution, and builds stronger working relationships through clearer and more direct dialogue.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
If you are eager, confident, capable, and trustworthy and you are not intimidated by leadership you will be of great value and make a meaningful impact as you work toward shared goals. Stay open to learning, trust your abilities, and don’t allow self-doubt or limitations to hold you back. Go for it, take initiative, and don’t limit yourself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is managing the stress and responsibility that comes with working closely alongside business owners, often in high-pressure environments where expectations are constant and evolving. In many cases, the role requires operating independently as a “team of one,” without immediate support or backup, which makes accountability, organization, and resilience essential. At the same time, this also presents an opportunity to develop strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and the ability to take full ownership of outcomes while building trust through consistent performance.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being guided by honesty in all interactions and valuing service as a core principle in both my work and personal life. I find fulfillment in contributing to the well-being and success of others, and I take pride in doing things that are meaningful, supportive, and impactful.
