What do you attribute your success to?
I've always wanted to do better. You know, I've always wanted to be my own boss. Working for someone else can be a little difficult, but also being your own boss comes with its own challenges. You rely on yourself, your income comes from whatever you do. I would say hard work and determination are what have driven my success. I also believe in honesty, being kind, reliable, and trustworthy. Those values have been essential to everything I've accomplished.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be ready. Buckle up. You have to make sure you have time for your niche. It can't go on autopilot. It takes time, it takes grit, it takes energy. It's not for the faint of heart, but if you stick to it, it can be very, very rewarding because you're working for yourself and not someone else. Customer service is huge and I feel like it's just a lost cause lately. You've got to be at the top of your game. Make sure that you're consistent, that you're trustworthy, reliable. Make sure that everything you do is in a timely manner and there's always follow-up. Keep up the communication with the client, let them know what you're working on so that they've got a peace of mind knowing that their investment is being worked on. If you've got great customer service and you provide whatever it is they're looking for in a professional manner, you will have them for life. They will refer you too. We should be supporting each other. There's a piece of the pie for everyone. You just have to jump in and figure it out along the way. Nobody knows everything when they start. Everybody started somewhere and they knew nothing about what they were doing.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges include declining customer service standards and changes in consumer spending following the pandemic. Opportunities lie in AI-driven website development and digital marketing services, particularly in lead generation and client-focused content creation.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family means everything to me. I'm very much a family person. I'm a mother of two daughters and a grandparent of three grandbabies, and raising them and sending them on their way and watching them create the lives that they have now is probably my biggest achievement and what I'm most proud of. Faith is also very important to me. Going to church is something I prioritize. Honesty, kindness, being reliable and trustworthy are values I hold dear in both my work and personal life. Hard work and service are also core to who I am.
