Her Story

About Constance

Constance Small serves as Founder and Designer of Victoire Fox, which she launched in 2007. She has been designing and manufacturing leather goods for 20 years, creating convertible handbags that can be restyled into at least three different styles using detachable hardware. Her designs draw inspiration from mixed-use architecture in Midtown Manhattan and earth tones found in urban environments. Small attended the Rhode Island School of Design where she studied apparel patterns and began her career creating custom prom dresses. She later interned and worked with Patty Wilson, fashion director for Italian Vogue and Vogue Japan, styling collections for Dolce and Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli before focusing on accessories. She holds a master's degree in historic architecture from NYU and maintains a New York City real estate license, with a current focus on historic properties. Small teaches entrepreneurship and financial literacy programs in schools and received the Excellency in Design award from the government of India for her work in design, leather work, and business development.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I will encourage her to invest as much as she can in her own self-development. Because you are the business and service comes from you. So if you have a healthy mind and a whole heart, then everything else falls into place.
