Her Story

About Constance

I've been working as a consulting educator for about 2 years now. My main area of expertise is helping teams, organizations, and entrepreneurs establish technical efficiencies in their processes and procedures to ensure that their companies are staying on budget, on time, and turning a profit for the work that they do. For the entrepreneur I'm working with now, I'm considered to be Chief Operating Officer, so I'm basically ensuring that product launches are going to happen in time to meet the missions of what the application is intended to do. Throughout my career, I've been in primarily male-dominated degrees, careers, and companies, and the challenge has been not being overlooked or discounted, and making sure that my contribution is acknowledged, rewarded, and accepted. My most notable professional achievement so far has been completing the acquisition of a large company - completing large mergers and acquisitions from one large company into another large company, where I had to touch every business area in the large company. Right now, I'm working in the AI (artificial intelligence) area, and it's the unknown of what it can do, how far it can go, and dealing with the misconception that it gets rid of people completely, not realizing that you still need certain people to oversee, guide, and interact with the AI process.

Ten minutes with Constance

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being thorough and complete, and transparent. I'm not afraid to give the honest review of a situation. I believe in being straightforward and complete in everything I do, and that transparency and thoroughness has been key to my achievements.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to go for it. Go for it, because that's what men do. Even if they don't have all the experience and knowledge, or whatever, they just go for it. So just go for it. Expect, potentially, to be told no, but just keep going forward. Just go for it.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Know your stuff - and I would have used a different word for the word stuff. Know your stuff. And be confident and complete. You need to really know what you're doing, be confident in your abilities, and be thorough in your work.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Right now, I'm in an AI area, artificial intelligence area, and it's the unknown of what it can do, how far it can go. And the misconception that it gets rid of people completely. Not realizing that you still need certain people to oversee, guide, and interact with the AI process. For a consultant, the opportunities can be good. You have to find - well, consulting is usually a niche area, so you have to be able to find my clients who appreciate and can utilize your skills and background in an effective manner. And get paid.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in my work and personal life are being authentic, trustworthy, and loyal. These three values guide everything I do, both professionally and personally.
