Ten minutes with Conswala
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success first and foremost to God, whose guidance, grace, and faithfulness have been the foundation of my personal and professional journey. My faith has given me the strength to overcome challenges, remain resilient through change, and approach every opportunity with purpose and gratitude. I also believe that success is built on integrity, hard work, meaningful relationships, and a genuine commitment to serving others. By trusting God's plan, maintaining a positive attitude, and striving to make a lasting impact in the lives of those I meet, I have been blessed with opportunities to grow, lead, and succeed throughout my career.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is, "If you take care of your employees, they will take care of you." That principle has shaped my leadership philosophy throughout my career. I believe that when people feel valued, respected, and supported, they are more engaged, motivated, and committed to achieving shared goals. Investing in your team, listening to their needs, and creating an environment where they can succeed not only strengthens workplace culture but also drives long-term success for the entire organization.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the hospitality industry is to trust yourself and give yourself grace. Believe in your abilities and have confidence in the value you bring, even when you encounter challenges or make mistakes. Every successful career includes setbacks, but those moments are opportunities to learn, grow, and become a stronger leader. Be patient with yourself, stay committed to your goals, and remember that success takes time. Continue building relationships, remain open to learning, and never stop believing in your potential.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in the hospitality industry today is ensuring that opportunities are awarded based on merit, experience, and performance rather than solely on personal connections. While networking is an important part of career growth, there are times when highly qualified professionals are overlooked despite their capabilities. I believe organizations achieve the greatest success when they recognize talent, invest in proven leaders, and create a culture where individuals have equal opportunities to grow based on their skills, dedication, and contributions.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my professional and personal life are family, integrity, and meaningful relationships. My family is my greatest source of strength and motivation, and they inspire me to give my best every day. In my career, I believe in treating people with respect, building trust, and leading with compassion because strong relationships are the foundation of lasting success. Whether at work or at home, I strive to live with honesty, support others, and create a positive impact on the people around me.
