Her Story
About Cordia
Cordia Bishop is a strategic funding consultant, education and workforce development expert, and Founder of Career Tech Educational Services of Ohio, LLC. Her work centers on helping organizations move beyond good ideas and develop the strategy, infrastructure, funding readiness, and execution necessary to create sustainable impact.
Known for her ability to connect vision with strategy, Cordia works across education, workforce development, nonprofit advancement, organizational capacity-building, and strategic funding. Rather than approaching grant development as a stand-alone function, she helps leaders examine the larger picture: whether the program is properly designed, whether the organization is prepared to manage funding, whether outcomes are measurable, and whether the opportunity aligns with the organization’s long-term direction.
Cordia is especially passionate about helping organizations that possess strong missions but may lack the internal systems, knowledge, or strategic positioning required to compete effectively for funding. Her growing body of work includes consulting, funding education, organizational development, and initiatives designed to make sophisticated funding knowledge more accessible to schools, nonprofits, churches, workforce organizations, and community leaders.
Her philosophy is rooted in preparation, stewardship, and measurable impact. She believes that securing funding is only the beginning; the greater responsibility is using those resources to create meaningful and sustainable change.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Cordia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my faith, preparation, persistence, and the ability to see possibilities where others may only see limitations. I have always been willing to keep learning, study the systems around me, and turn knowledge into strategy and measurable results. I also value mentorship and remain teachable, because growth requires being confident enough to lead and humble enough to keep learning. Most importantly, I stay focused on impact, helping people and organizations move from potential to real opportunity.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that opportunity favors a prepared mind. So stay prepared, because opportunities often appear before you feel completely ready. That advice taught me to keep learning, sharpen my expertise, and build the confidence to step into rooms and opportunities that stretch me. I’ve learned that preparation does more than help you recognize an opportunity; it gives you the ability to maximize it when it arrives.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Master your craft. Know your field, study it deeply, and become genuinely knowledgeable, but make sure you are also passionate about the work. Don’t chase money, titles, or trends. Build real expertise first and let your opportunities grow from that foundation. Too many people make the mistake of trying to build a business before fully developing their skills, experience, or value. Put in the work first, pursue your passion, and success will follow.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest opportunities I see right now is the rise of sisterhood among women in business. More women are choosing collaboration over competition, and that shift is powerful. We are seeing more mentorship, shared resources, strategic partnerships, and women intentionally creating opportunities for one another. There will always be competition in business, but I believe more women are recognizing that another woman’s success does not diminish their own. When women support, mentor, and advocate for one another, we expand what is possible for all of us.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are integrity, excellence, faith, stewardship, and impact. In both my work and personal life, I believe how you do something matters just as much as what you accomplish. I want my work to reflect honesty, preparation, and a genuine commitment to serving people well. I also believe every opportunity, resource, and relationship should be handled with care and responsibility. At the end of the day, success means more to me when it creates meaningful impact, strengthens others, and reflects the values I live by.
