Austin, TX 78754

Corry Moore is a dedicated Union Organizer with AFSCME Local 24 in Austin, Texas, where she has been working in the labor movement for nearly three years. In her current role, Corry engages with potential leaders, gathers insight on workplace issues, and mobilizes individuals to join the union in addressing these concerns. Beginning her journey with AFSCME as an administrative assistant, she quickly advanced to Organizer—a trajectory that reflects a consistent pattern throughout her career: starting from the ground up and steadily taking on leadership responsibilities.

Before entering the labor movement, Corry gained extensive operational and leadership experience in the banking sector. Notably, she helped open a Frontier Bank branch in 2021, overseeing all aspects of its operations—a professional achievement she considers among her most significant. Corry’s career also spans roles in financial services and hospitality, where she developed strong expertise in regulatory compliance, team development, and problem-solving. Across every industry she has worked in, she has demonstrated a commitment to building effective teams, fostering positive workplace culture, and achieving operational excellence.

A lifelong learner, Corry attended The University of Texas-Pan American and has continually built her expertise through hands-on experience. She is currently participating in the Ruth Ellinger Leadership class at the Texas AFL-CIO, where union leaders hone their skills as advocates and organizers. Outside of her professional responsibilities, Corry actively contributes to her community through philanthropic initiatives, leadership programs, and volunteer efforts. Her professional philosophy centers on empowerment, collaboration, and service, inspiring others to achieve their best while making meaningful contributions to their workplaces and communities.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to other women leaders in my life who have pushed me and given me great advice about integrity and professionalism. Yeah, I mean, other great women leaders have really been the driving force behind where I am today.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice would be to always remain confident in everything that you do, and don't worry too much about what other people might be thinking. Confidence and staying true to yourself are key, regardless of outside opinions or perceptions.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The work I do with the union actually connects with my values more than anything I've ever done in my life. The labor movement and what we stand for through the Texas AFL-CIO and the union in general align deeply with what matters most to me. This connection between my values and my work is what makes what I do so meaningful.
