Cortney attributes her success to being the oldest of eight children, which taught her the importance of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance at an early age. She credits her mother as a powerful influence who modeled strength, integrity, and compassion, and encouraged her to pursue her goals with confidence. Her faith has also been a guiding foundation, shaping her values, resilience, and commitment to leading and serving with purpose and humility.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Cortney advises new agents to treat brokerages as employers they are interviewing — ask detailed questions about mentorship and training. She emphasizes treating real estate like a business, having discipline, and planning ("a goal without a plan is just a wish").
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Cortney believes the biggest challenges and opportunities in her field today are gaining real-world, hands-on experience and finding the right mentor. She emphasizes that success in real estate requires fully immersing yourself in the business being present in the market, building relationships, and learning through practice. She also sees mentorship as a critical opportunity, noting that guidance from an experienced professional can accelerate growth, sharpen decision-making, and help navigate the complexities of the industry.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Cortney believes the most important values in both her work and personal life are communication, integrity, and leading with love. She prioritizes clear and honest communication to build trust and understanding, and she holds integrity as a non-negotiable foundation in every relationship and decision.
