Her Interview
Ten minutes with Courtney
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my ability to create a tangible impact by breaking barriers and redefining what leadership looks like. For me, success has never been about fitting into a predefined mold—it’s about pushing past limitations and refusing to put myself in a box. I’ve been told “no” more times than I can count throughout my life. I’ve heard “you can’t do that,” “that path will be too difficult,” or simply been turned away. Even now, working closely with business clients, I still hear “no.” But I’ve learned that those moments are not setbacks—they’re part of the process.
Resiliency is one of the most important qualities I carry with me. I’ve embraced a mindset where I don’t fear rejection. A “no” isn’t a lost opportunity; it’s simply a step along the way. What matters most is continuing to show up, sharing knowledge, and providing meaningful education that empowers others to make confident decisions.
I also attribute my success to building strong, authentic relationships. Trust and connection are at the center of everything I do, and taking the time to truly understand people’s needs allows me to make a lasting difference. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to surround myself with supportive mentors, colleagues, and clients who challenge and inspire me.
Ultimately, success, to me, is not defined by titles or milestones—it’s defined by impact, growth, and the courage to keep moving forward, even when the path isn’t easy.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is simple, but powerful: don’t let someone else define your limits—follow your heart, do the things that bring you joy, and always stay true to your morals and values. Early on, I was told certain paths would be too difficult, unrealistic, or just not meant for me. But I learned that those opinions often reflect other people’s fears—not your potential.
That advice has shaped how I approach both my career and the challenges that come with it. It’s a reminder to trust my instincts and pursue opportunities that not only align with my goals, but also with what genuinely fulfills and energizes me. When you follow what brings you joy and stay grounded in your values, you show up more authentically—and that authenticity builds trust and lasting impact.
I’ve also learned to embrace discomfort and rejection as part of the process. Growth doesn’t happen inside comfort zones—it happens when you’re willing to push beyond them. Staying resilient, continuing to show up, and leading with integrity have been key to navigating both opportunities and obstacles.
Ultimately, it comes down to believing in yourself, staying aligned with your purpose, and never compromising who you are. When you lead with both passion and principle, you create a career path that is not only successful, but truly meaningful.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My biggest advice is to believe in your voice and don’t be afraid to take up space. This industry—and many others—can feel intimidating at times. Stay grounded in who you are, trust your instincts, and never let someone else’s opinion limit what you know you’re capable of achieving.
I would really want to have an open conversation about resiliency. When you’re young and just starting out, and you have a dream—go after it. Don’t let anything stop you. Be prepared for challenges, and for the times you may be told “no,” but understand that those moments are part of the journey, not the end of it. That ceiling people talk about—it isn’t real, and it doesn’t have to be.
Believe in yourself enough to push past limitations and refuse to put yourself in a box. We are so incredibly capable of more than we often realize. We have the ability to innovate, lead, and truly trailblaze—just like the strong women who came before us.
If this is what you want to do, don’t fear it. Have no fear at all—just blaze forward. Know that you are supported by the legacy of those who paved the way and that you, in turn, are creating that same path for the women who will follow. That perspective alone is incredibly powerful.
Finally, stay true to your morals and values, and follow your heart toward work that brings you joy. When you lead with authenticity, resilience, and purpose, you don’t just build a career—you create impact.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is navigating constant change—whether it’s shifting economic conditions, evolving client needs, or increased competition. Clients are looking for more guidance, more education, and more strategic partnership than ever before. While that can be demanding, it also creates an incredible opportunity to truly make an impact.
For me, that’s where the opportunity lies. There is a growing need for trusted advisors who are willing to go beyond transactions and instead focus on building relationships, sharing knowledge, and helping clients make confident, informed decisions. Being able to step into that role—to educate, guide, and support business owners through both challenges and growth—is incredibly rewarding.
At the same time, there are very real challenges that businesses are facing, many of which go hand-in-hand with advancements in technology. Fraud is a growing concern across industries. While technology can be an incredible resource and create efficiency, it also introduces new risks that businesses have to be prepared for. Helping clients understand those risks and protect themselves has become an increasingly important part of what we do.
What stands out most is that no two businesses are experiencing challenges in exactly the same way. Every situation is unique, and every day brings a different set of circumstances depending on the industry and the individual business. That’s what makes this work both complex and meaningful—the need to stay adaptable, informed, and deeply connected to each client’s specific reality.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me, both professionally and personally, are integrity, authenticity, and resilience. Staying true to my morals and values is at the core of everything I do. It guides my decisions, shapes my relationships, and builds the trust that is so essential in both life and business.
I believe in showing up as my authentic self—being genuine, honest, and transparent in my interactions. Whether I’m working with clients, colleagues, or my community, I want people to feel confident that they are working with someone who truly cares and has their best interest at heart.
I also place a strong emphasis on relationships and making a meaningful impact. Taking the time to listen, understand, and support others is incredibly important to me. Success, to me, is not just about personal achievement—it’s about the difference you make in the lives of others and the legacy you leave behind.
Ultimately, I strive to live and work with purpose—leading with integrity, staying grounded in my values, and continuing to grow while helping others do the same.
