What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to discipline and discernment. Being able to tell when somebody's lying to your face is helpful. It's about having the discipline to stay the course and the discernment to know who to trust and when to act.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I actually got the wrong advice in the beginning. I was told to be quiet and let my numbers do the talking. And then I did that, and I burnt myself out. Now I know that I had to speak up. I have to advocate for myself in a room full of men. You have to have courage to speak up for yourself and advocate for yourself.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Stand up for yourself. Stand up for yourself as well. Anything is possible. If boys can do it, how hard can it be?
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is misogyny. That's 100% it. I will say that is the only thing that has slowed me down. Beyond that, there are no challenges. As for opportunities, they come at every corner. They're on the golf course, they're in the schools, they're in the fire departments. They're in anyone who just wants good financial advice. Any chance to share sound financial advice, tax planning, financial planning, that's just a great opportunity for me.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Values are what get me my clients. I'm very forthright about my values, and protecting women and children is what I'm here for. I do that through financial literacy and making sure that women have access to financial advice that I feel like has been gatekept from them. In expressing my concern for the women out there, I actually bring on a ton of male clients because that resonates with them as well.
