About Courtney
Courtney Gagnon is a neurodivergent coach and advocate with over 15 years of experience. She has worked on and off as a freelance writer for about 15 years and previously served as an instructor and assistant professor, where she noticed that students with unique learning styles were drawn to her. Courtney holds a bachelor's and master's degree from St. Bonaventure University, a Franciscan university in upstate New York. She is a certified neurodivergent coach and is certified in mindfulness leadership. Through The Neurodivergent Life, Courtney serves as an ADHD financial reset coach, helping late-diagnosed neurodivergent women clarify their side hustle and financial goals. She advocates for women and mothers like herself who have neurodivergent children, working to create a platform that consolidates information on therapies, doctors, and educational help. Courtney attributes her success to sheer stubbornness and a strong co-parenting relationship with her ex-husband, which supports her as a single mom.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Courtney
01What do you attribute your success to?
Sheer stubbornness and having a good co-parenting relationship with my ex-husband as a single mom, which allows me to do more than many women in my situation.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Trust your gut. And do not put a man in front of your dreams. Give up jobs if you're newly married, even if your husband makes more than you, speaking from experience.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is people not realizing what neurodivergent means and what people need. More people need to understand what neurodivergent means and what falls under it, and how to support people who have these needs. There's a genetic connection.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Feeling supported and knowing that I am helping other people and being of service.
