Her Story
About Courtney
I am the Director of Clinical Services for WellsCare and Precision Vein and Vascular. I oversee mid-level providers from a regulatory and quality standpoint, monitor Medicare regulations, ensure quality clinical outcomes, and focus on evidence-based wound care practices to help patients heal. I started as a home health nurse 10 years ago and have held roles including director of home health and hospice, VP of quality at Rocky Mountain Care, and director of nursing in assisted living and memory care. My passion comes from wanting to make a positive difference for elderly patients after seeing how poor care affected my mother.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Courtney
01What do you attribute your success to?
My grandparents who contributed to who I am, and my mother who was chronically ill and experienced poor nursing care, which inspired me to become a nurse to positively influence patients' lives and be the nurse they remember for good care.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Medicare changes due to fraud in wound care and skin substitutes, making it harder to justify specialist care and access; patients' lack of ability to get to appointments due to chronic illnesses; need to show ethical, quality care amid industry issues.
