I've been working in fintech for more than 6 years, and it's really where I feel my expertise can be most used. I started my career with an internship at a financial firm, which gave me great direction, and then I worked at Citibank for about 3 years in fintech. For about 2 years, I took a different path and worked at an animal health pharmaceutical company because I wanted to blend my technical skills with my passion for animal rescue and animal welfare, but I came to understand that's good in its place, and I'm better suited to the financial and fintech industry itself. Now I've been in my current role for more than a year at RegEdge, which is a boutique consulting firm, and I'm really enjoying my work here. I get to work with a lot of financial experts in compliance, supervision, and regulatory areas, building out tools for them and consulting for these firms. My work involves building applications and tools like order management systems, portfolio management systems, supervision and compliance tools, and regulatory reporting tools. It spans across the whole financial area for trading. If I had to be more specific about my expertise, I would say it's supervisory and compliance within fintech. Every day is honestly different because I work across multiple projects, working with different clients to build the tools and workflows they need to facilitate supervision and compliance within their financial firms.
