Her Interview

Ten minutes with Crista Rachel

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my mother, who raised us largely on her own and taught me the value of hard work, independence, and resilience. She showed me that I should depend on myself, work for what I want, and never underestimate the power of my creativity—something no one can ever take away from me.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received came from my mother, who taught me the importance of independence, hard work, and believing in myself. She showed me that I don’t need to depend on someone else to create the life I want and, most importantly, that my creativity is something no one can take away from me. I’ve carried those lessons throughout my career, along with the example of mentors who taught me the value of sharing knowledge, staying curious, and helping others grow.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to seek internships as early as high school or college and to learn from people already working in industries they are passionate about. Talk to mentors, including your friends’ parents, and take every opportunity to gain real-world experience. Most importantly, stay authentic to who you are and don’t feel pressured to simply follow trends.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in branding and marketing is balancing client preferences with a brand’s core values, since the field is not always black and white—it is deeply influenced by what people connect with and enjoy. At the same time, there is a strong opportunity in experiential marketing to build meaningful lifestyles and communities around brands through creative partnerships and collaborations.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are authenticity, kindness, and personal growth. I believe in staying true to who I am rather than trying to please everyone, while recognizing that everyone has their own experiences and perspectives. I focus on competing with myself, continuing to grow, and becoming a better version of who I was yesterday rather than comparing myself to others.
