What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to not holding back and not limiting myself. The best advice I've ever received, and what I live by, is to knock on that door because the worst you can get is a no, but you never know if you don't knock. After my father passed suddenly from a heart attack, I realized that you don't live only once - you have a lifetime to live, but you die once. What you make out of today is what determines your tomorrow. That reality hit me hard and gave me the courage to quit my stable job in oil and gas and pursue what I'd always wanted. I also come from a family that loves education and exposed me early to learning, which gave me the foundation to diversify across multiple industries. People saw potential in me and encouraged me when I was too shy to pursue creative work on my own. I don't take for granted that parents reach out wanting their daughters to connect with me because they see something positive. For me, it's not just about fame - it's about being authentic, putting out quality work I can defend, and using my platform to give back and bring hope to a world that needs more goodness.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is: Don't hold back. Don't limit yourself. Knock on that door. The worst you can get is a no. But then you never know if you don't knock. That's what I live by, and it's also what I would tell somebody else. This advice has shaped how I approach every opportunity, from transitioning out of oil and gas into film, to pursuing directing, to now getting into real estate and joining boards. I've learned that you have to take those chances and not let fear or uncertainty stop you from going after what you want.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values to me are authenticity, quality, and making a positive impact. I believe the difference between me and the next person in my field is that we're pursuing different things - yeah, fame is important, but what is all that fame and name if it's not exactly good? For me, it's about being able to give my own quota to healing this world. This world is going to shit, and every time I open my social media, it's one crazy news or the other. So if I can be one positive thing that somebody can look up to and feel refreshed, and their spirit is refreshed, and they have hope again that there can be some good in the world, I'm happy to be in a platform that gives me the opportunity to share such goodness and hope. I don't take it for granted when parents reach out wanting their daughters to connect with me because they see something positive they want their kids to emulate. I focus on being authentic because you have to be able to defend what you put out there. I also believe it's not just about acquiring knowledge and degrees - it's about being impactful with them. You can't just acquire knowledge and die with the knowledge. That's why I tell stories that are based on real-life events, true stories, history, and mythologies, not just fictional entertainment.
