Her Interview

Ten minutes with Crystal

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think really just maybe understanding the world. You know, I think as a tutor, I've been able to also learn things as well, and, you know, brush up on things that maybe I forgot. So, you know, that has helped me to understand the world, and also has helped me help others understand the world as well.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I guess it would probably be that, you should be adaptable. And you should be able to help different kinds of students, and basically provide them with the help they need.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say that people who decide to tutor, I think they should make sure they continue to be knowledgeable about their subject. They should periodically study, you know. And, you know, brush up on their knowledge so that they can help others.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think that the challenge for me is maybe defining what subject I would like to tutor the most. And, determining how to get the credentials I would need to be able to tutor this subject.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value education. Helping others. I'm basically providing academic support to those that need it. I try to be friendly to the students, you know, try to make them feel comfortable, so that they can ask questions, and I try to be as helpful as I possibly can.
