Her Interview
Ten minutes with Crystal
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my determination and my goal of being an influential leader in my field. I've always been supportive and the person behind the curtains to help everyone. My determination to keep pushing forward and my commitment to being there for others, supporting them and bringing out the best in them, has been essential to everything I've achieved.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received came from a female manager I had when I was at Morgan Stanley. She was a great mentor of mine, and her story is very inspiring. Her advice was to always work hard and always have other people's best interests at heart. She also encouraged me to engage in the female leaders field, to support each other, and to be the backbone or supporter of other people. That way, we can actually make ourselves a stronger team.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I would say the biggest challenges are that the industry is always evolving, and we need to embrace new technology and the evolution of different eras. For example, right now, it's AI. To keep up with everything is very important, but it's also challenging because you have to constantly learn new knowledge besides your normal day-to-day work. I always listen to podcasts about AI and look around the news for international or domestic updates about what's going on in each company, what kind of AI models they are inventing, and how to better understand and utilize it in my field to better service my clients. That's a good thing because as a challenge, you're always keeping up with the pace, so you are always at the head of everything for my clients. The opportunity is that with so many different geopolitical dynamics and cultural differences, more and more people globally can actually have access to some of the resources that they didn't have access to before.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I think integrity is very important. Being honest and having high integrity in my field and also personal life is essential, I would say. Also, the heart of servicing other people and bringing the best to other people is most important as well. Having other people's best interests at heart is very essential in my personal and professional field.
