Cynthia Beeman, MA

Executive Director
Susquehanna County Interfaith
Montrose, PA 18801

Throughout my life, I have been driven by a single, constant desire: to help people. My role as a leader has always been about more than just managing operations; it’s about investing in individuals and empowering each person to find their place as a meaningful, contributing member of our community.

With over 20 years of leadership in the non-profit and human services sectors, I’ve seen firsthand how strategic vision can change lives. I am incredibly proud of the growth I’ve led—including a 900% increase in revenue and the successful relocation of large-scale operations—but for me, those numbers represent more than just "performance." They represent the resources needed to fuel a mission.

Whether I am writing grants, leading capital campaigns, or securing funding from national and federal partners, my focus remains on operational sustainability and community impact. Being recognized as one of the "Top 25 Business Women in Northeastern PA" and a 2026 Influential Woman has been a humbling reminder of why I do this work: to ensure that our organizations are strong enough to serve those who need us most, for years to come.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

My success is rooted in a deep commitment to people and in building teams that trust one another, communicate openly, and lead with empathy and integrity. Working in partnership with a dedicated board and team created a culture where collaboration, innovation, and growth flourished, enabling us to better serve our community.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Treat every experience as a chance to grow—pause to ask what worked, what didn’t, and how you can do better moving forward.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Careers are rarely linear. Treat every role, challenge, and unexpected turn as a chance to grow, connect with new people, and understand the world through someone else’s eyes.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges facing nonprofits today is fundraising—asking the right questions of donors, streamlining messaging, and writing grants that are both impactful and fundable. At the same time, organizations must balance these demands with genuine care for people, including those seeking assistance and the teams carrying out the work.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, discretion, empathy, optimism, and a service-oriented mindset are central to both my professional and personal life. I believe in keeping people at the heart of every decision while building trust and sustainable impact within the community.
