Her Interview

Ten minutes with Cynthia

01What do you attribute your success to?

My mother. She didn't have a fair hand in life, and from what I've seen her go through, it was a constant reminder to myself that I never wanted to go through those things. I made sure that I received the education so that I could have the opportunities and advantages that my mother was never able to have.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

If your heart's not in it, don't do it. If you're gonna do it, do it all, or don't do it at all. Do not allow the pain of your past to dictate the fortitude of your future.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Do it all, or don't do it at all.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges include lack of finances for one-on-one technology, new textbooks, and teacher conferences or workshops. Opportunities include utilizing free conferences and AI tools to enhance teaching while encouraging critical thinking.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Being motivated and having a growth mindset is extremely important. Being able to look at a situation and make it better, to move forward with perseverance and motivation to have improvement in everything that you do.
