Her Interview
Ten minutes with Cynthia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to having the courage to step out on faith, believe in my vision, and fully invest in myself and my goals. After retiring, I committed 100% of my time, energy, and passion to building my business, embracing both the challenges and opportunities along the way. That unwavering commitment, combined with perseverance and confidence in my purpose, has been the foundation of my success.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I’ve always valued the advice to never stop learning. Continue to seek knowledge, pursue the opportunities that align with your goals, and have the confidence to go after what you truly want. Most importantly, build a career that reflects your own passions and purpose—not someone else’s expectations. Authenticity, continuous growth, and believing in yourself are the keys to long-term success and fulfillment.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to never limit yourself. If you begin as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), view it as a stepping stone rather than your final destination. If you're passionate about the field, continue learning, pursue opportunities for growth, and don't be afraid to build something of your own. While education can be valuable, determination, hard work, and perseverance can open many doors. Believe in your abilities, keep pushing forward, and take your career as far as your ambitions will lead you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in the home care industry is recruiting and retaining dependable, compassionate caregivers who can consistently provide high-quality care to clients. Another challenge is the limited time available when meeting with social workers, hospitals, and referral partners, making it difficult to fully communicate the value and impact of the services we provide. At the same time, there is a tremendous opportunity to improve the quality of care for seniors by advocating for their needs and ensuring they receive the compassionate, reliable support they deserve.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide both my work and personal life are honesty, respect, and open communication. I believe every client deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and genuine respect, regardless of their circumstances. Building trusting relationships through clear communication and ethical practices is the foundation of providing exceptional care and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
