Ten minutes with Cynthia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to God’s guidance and the way He has consistently provided opportunities and direction throughout my journey. Every time a transition or new opportunity was needed, a path opened at the right moment. I have been blessed to learn from incredible mentors and to experience opportunities that have aligned with my purpose and growth. My faith, along with the guidance and support of those placed in my life, has helped me navigate challenges and continue moving forward with confidence and gratitude.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering my industry to prioritize themselves and their personal growth, especially during the early years of their careers. Investing four to six years in building your skills, gaining experience, and developing confidence can create a strong foundation for long-term success. Work hard, stay committed, and do not allow setbacks or challenges to discourage you. Avoid comparing yourself to others, as everyone’s journey unfolds differently. Most importantly, remain curious, continue learning, and embrace every opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunities in my field right now are within areas such as managed care, pharmacy benefit management (PBM), analytics, informatics, and the financial aspects of healthcare. As the industry continues to evolve, there are many pathways for growth beyond traditional roles in retail and hospital settings. One of the greatest challenges is that many of these opportunities are not widely visible or understood. Building strong networks and connecting with professionals across different areas of the industry can help uncover new possibilities and create greater awareness of the diverse career paths available.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are honesty, transparency, accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning. I believe in leading with integrity by being open, authentic, and truthful in my interactions with others. Taking ownership of my actions and decisions is essential to building trust and creating meaningful relationships. I also value staying curious and embracing opportunities to learn and grow, both professionally and personally, so I can continue to improve and make a positive impact.
