What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a career that evolved organically through experience, curiosity, and a clear understanding of where my strengths create the greatest impact. I began my professional journey in law firm administration, where I built a strong foundation in operations, compliance, and people management. Over time, I discovered that the work I found most meaningful centered on human capital—how organizations support, develop, and retain their people. That realization led me to launch my own HR consulting practice in 2022, building on more than twenty-five years of experience across the human resources field. Today, I partner with organizations across industries, providing comprehensive HR support that spans the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, investigations, retention strategies, and thoughtful offboarding, along with fractional HR services, leadership coaching, and professional development.
What I am most proud of is the breadth and depth of my experience, which allows me to step in during pivotal moments of growth or change and provide clarity, structure, and trust. My work is grounded in both education and practice, supported by a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, a business management degree from Strayer University, SHRM and HRCI (PHR) certifications, and professional coaching credentials through iPEC. I am an active member of SHRM and the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches, a USFCR-verified woman-owned small business owner, and a co-author of Cultivating Culture and When Work Works. Recognition such as the President’s Award for Diversity and Inclusion from the Association of Legal Administrators reinforces my belief that inclusive, people-centered leadership is essential to building strong, sustainable organizations.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Entrepreneurship has taught me that it is never too late to begin again or to redefine success on your own terms. I firmly believe that corporate experience and entrepreneurship are not opposing paths, but complementary ones. When women leverage their expertise to create something of their own, they expand possibilities not only for themselves, but for others watching closely. Corporate America definitely needs more entrepreneurs to give their expertise and help develop upcoming professionals.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the most significant challenges in my field has been the transition from a traditional corporate environment into entrepreneurship. Moving from the structure and predictability of law firm administration to building an independent HR consulting practice required not only thoughtful strategy, but a fundamental shift in mindset. Establishing credibility as a solo consultant, particularly while competing with larger firms, meant learning to clearly articulate my value, trust my expertise, and confidently advocate for the impact of my work. Balancing client needs with business development and ongoing professional growth tested my resilience and time management, especially during the early stages of building my firm.
At the same time, these challenges have created meaningful opportunities. Organizations today are increasingly seeking flexible, trusted HR partners who can provide practical guidance during periods of growth, change, or uncertainty. Navigating these demands has sharpened my leadership, clarified my purpose, and reinforced the value of people centered, strategic HR support. Each challenge has strengthened my commitment to helping organizations build compliant, healthy, and sustainable workplaces by investing in the people who drive their success.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
At the heart of my work and personal life is a deep belief that people are an organization’s greatest asset. When individuals feel respected, supported, and heard, both culture and performance thrive. I lead with integrity, grounded in honesty, discretion, and accountability, knowing that trust is foundational in human resources and essential to meaningful relationships in all areas of life. I am equally committed to inclusion and equity, believing that diverse perspectives strengthen organizations and communities when belonging and opportunity are practiced intentionally every day.
I value continuous growth and courageous leadership, recognizing that learning, adaptability, and thoughtful decision making are essential in an ever changing workplace. I strive to lead with empathy, clarity, and purpose, while helping others build the confidence to do the same. Service and impact guide my definition of success, as I am motivated by creating positive, lasting change for organizations, individuals, and the broader community. Central to this commitment is the empowerment of women, opening doors, sharing knowledge, and lifting others as I grow, both professionally and personally.
