Cynthia Towner

Cynthia Towner is a stroke survivor, entrepreneur, speaker, author, and coach with over 12 years of experience in her professional field. Her journey began in the beauty industry, where she worked in hairstyling, but life took an unexpected turn following a stroke that profoundly reshaped her purpose and direction. That experience deepened her understanding of resilience, health, and the urgent need for advocacy, ultimately inspiring her to use her voice to support others navigating their own challenges and life transitions.

Today, Cynthia is dedicated to empowering individuals, families, and communities through coaching, public speaking, workshops, support groups, and written work. She focuses on inclusion, accessibility, mental health awareness, and helping others better understand the impact of neurological health and the nervous system on overall well-being. Her personal experience as a stroke survivor informs her mission to uplift others and remind them of their strength, potential, and ability to rebuild after adversity.

In her daily life, Cynthia balances motherhood, continued education through WCLI, and the demands of running a growing business where she manages everything from email marketing and brand development to virtual coaching sessions and public engagements. She also speaks at organizations and corporations, sharing her story and advocating for greater inclusion and accessibility. Through her work and lived experience, Cynthia is committed to building a platform that not only tells her story, but also creates space for other survivors to heal, grow, and thrive.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to never giving in to giving up on myself. Throughout my career, the biggest piece of advice I've been given is that struggle builds strength, and you never know what's meant for you if you don't keep walking forward to get to the other side. The biggest thing is to be positive, stay patient, and keep practicing in everything that you do, and you're bound to succeed in everything that you do. Life happened and took a different turn when I became a stroke survivor. That changed my understanding of the need and gave me a voice bigger than myself, making me want to do something bigger than me. I'm blessed and I've overcome, and now I have a true story to be able to help people through their struggles and their storms. God kept me on purpose with purpose, so now I gotta build up other survivors and remind them of their greatness.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The biggest piece of advice I've been given throughout my career is to never give in to giving up on yourself. Struggle builds strength, and you never know what's meant for you if you don't keep walking forward to get to the other side. The biggest thing is to be positive, stay patient, and keep practicing in everything that you do, and you're bound to succeed in everything that you do. My mentor Dr. Regina Lewis has also inspired me to not quit learning, ever. It's always learning. She's taught me the science behind using my voice the right way and being able to reach a crowd and really change lives.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would recommend to never give in to giving up on yourself, to understand that the hard things are the worth it things.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The biggest value is integrity. My values are integrity, respect, empowerment, being seen and heard, and having a voice. But the big thing for my company is integrity. That's the forefront of everything we do, and we walk using the three P's, which is positivity, patience, and practice. As a stroke survivor, I started to understand where the need is and how our mental health has truly been affected, and we don't really understand what the nervous system really means for the rest of your body. I've been learning and growing, and this has to happen because God kept me on purpose with purpose. So now I gotta build up other survivors and remind them of their greatness.
