About Daa'iyah

Daa'iyah Rahman is a nonprofit development and fundraising professional with seven years of experience. Her path into the field stems from her family's deep involvement in community and philanthropy. She earned an associate degree from a local school on a mayoral scholarship before transferring to Howard University, where she received her bachelor's degree in theater studies. Rahman is currently consulting while pursuing her Certified Fundraising Executive credential. She has completed leadership development programs through the Cleveland Leadership Center and the Association of Fundraising Professionals Leadership Institute. She serves as a board member of AFP Greater Cleveland, an associate board member of the Hunger Network, board president of The Movement, and chapter president of Nero Sigma Fine Arts Fraternity Incorporated. Rahman values transparency, communication, integrity, equity, and relationship building in her work.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Focus on myself and hone in on who I am and my skills to be a better collaborator. Also, read books like How Successful People Think by John C. Maxwell, which emphasizes creativity over accolades or degrees to solve problems and pivot.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stick the course and see things through, even if the end is unexpected. Be prepared by doing research and knowing what you're talking about to take every opportunity.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Transparency, communication, integrity, and equity. Building relationships is key.
