What do you attribute your success to?
I would say my mother has been integral to my success. She worked so hard when she came to this country to make a name for herself, so really, it was like no options. We didn't come here to play. You're always gonna work hard. I had my first job when I was 13 in a summer program back in the Bronx. My mother honestly has been truly an inspiration. When I was 22, I could not picture myself going to another country and making things happen, but she came from Jamaica when she was young and did exactly that. She really just instilled that no matter your circumstances, you have to make things work. I don't care if you're scrubbing a toilet or you're in front of a room leading a meeting, you always have to work hard. She instilled that in me from day one.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell her to explore her options and never feel limited by where she is right now. No matter how many times she falls, she has to continue to get up, because growth comes from those moments. I'd tell her that you can reinvent yourself as many times as you want to. If there's something you don't like, look in the mirror and fix it. And it's never too late. I'll be this year and I'm still looking to improve and expand. It's never too late to become the person you want to be.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field are keeping clients up to date with rapid product developments and new features released every few months. At the same time, there’s a major opportunity in securing multi-year renewals and expanding long-term partnerships.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty and transparency are most important to me. I'm not a good liar - it makes me sweat, it makes me nervous, so I need to be able to be transparent and be myself. I'm always gonna keep it real with you, whether it's my work life or personal life. I'm always gonna tell you the truth, and I'm always going to find a way to do it in a way that we're still gonna walk away liking each other, loving each other, whatever the relationship is. I'm always gonna be transparent.
