Her Story
About Daleena
Daleena is an accomplished business leader, design builder, and operations executive with more than 15 years of experience driving growth, leading high-performing teams, and transforming business operations across the housing, financial services, human resources, and home improvement industries. Currently, she leads the Austin market for The Home Depot’s Pro Sales team, where she works closely with builders, remodelers, and designers while guiding field associates and overseeing projects from concept to completion. Her unique blend of operational expertise, financial acumen, and people-focused leadership has enabled her to consistently deliver measurable results and lasting organizational impact.
Prior to her current role, Daleena made history as the first female director of The Home Depot’s West Coast Design Centers, one of only two such centers in the country. Charged with revitalizing an underperforming division, she successfully rebuilt the business model by strengthening partnerships with luxury home builders, custom remodelers, and design professionals. Under her leadership, the division transformed from a recurring annual deficit of $7–12 million into a thriving operation generating between $30 million and $45 million in revenue. Earlier in her career, she held leadership positions in housing management, public housing programs, human resources, and banking, where she managed multimillion-dollar portfolios and helped execute a successful intra-island merger.
A native of Guam, Daleena credits much of her success to her faith, perseverance, and the strong work ethic she developed growing up as one of eight children in a modest household. Her journey reflects a commitment to overcoming challenges while continually investing in both personal and professional growth. She believes in treating all people with respect, leading with integrity, and viewing failure not as a setback but as an opportunity to learn and succeed. Through her leadership, mentorship, and dedication to excellence, Daleena continues to make a meaningful impact on the teams, organizations, and communities she serves.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Daleena
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my faith. From a young age, I believed that where you come from does not determine what you can achieve. That belief has given me the strength, resilience, and confidence to pursue my goals, overcome challenges, and create opportunities throughout my life and career.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to fail forward. I’ve learned that failure, whether personal or professional, is not something to fear but an opportunity to learn, grow, and move closer to success.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to trust in their abilities and fully embrace their potential. Move forward with confidence, pursue your goals without hesitation, and never be afraid to create the life and career you truly want.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is succeeding as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated industry. I view that challenge as an opportunity to demonstrate leadership, build credibility through results, and help create more opportunities for other women who follow.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The value that is most important to me in both my work and personal life is respect for all people. I believe treating others with dignity and kindness creates a meaningful life, strengthens communities, and sets a positive example for future generations.
