Her Story

About Dalorrein

I've been with Square for four years now, starting in customer service, which really gave me my first taste of fintech and sparked my curiosity to learn more about how this industry works. That curiosity led me to explore different roles at Square, and I discovered that account management would be perfect for fostering relationships and helping clients adapt different products while also helping them grow. For the past two years, I've been working as an Account Manager, and my day-to-day involves managing my pipeline of businesses in my portfolio, checking in with them to make sure everything's running smoothly, following up on appointments, and educating them on new products that would be beneficial for their businesses as they continue to grow. I also help with expansions when they're opening up new locations, getting them hardware and everything they need. My expertise is really in the account management space, which encompasses helping businesses grow, fostering those important relationships, managing expansions, and handling contract negotiations. What I love about fintech is that it's a field that continues to grow with so many different avenues and aspects, and it's ever-changing, so I know I'm in a field that's not going anywhere and will continue to evolve.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Dalorrein

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my ambition - just not settling and wanting the best for myself, and figuring out the best avenues and best things to go about doing it. It's really about that drive to keep pushing forward and finding the right paths to achieve what I want.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received was to build your brand - meaning, be known for something. For a while at Square, I was known for being in the office and networking and getting other people to come into the office, and eventually, my brand grew into going to different conferences and events and representing the company. So when most people hear my name, they know of those two things: I'm the person trying to get people to come in the office and network, and I'm also known for going to different events and representing Square. This advice came to me probably in my second year of being in corporate tech, and it's really shaped how I approach my professional presence.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Network and ask questions, don’t be afraid to ask for a meeting and pick peoples brains and getting advice especially as a new hire.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Biggest challenge would be trying to figure out how to get experience in areas you are interested in while in your current role.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Balance - it’s really important to make sure you have a life outside of work don’t let work consume you when you are out office bout of office and live life.

Be a student - you don’t know everything, always being willing to learn.

Helpfulness - always be willing to help out, I wish someone would have been nice enough to be mentor or even offered to be a resource when navigating new areas.
