Her Story
About Dalya
Dalya Wilson serves as Vice President of Riri's Legacy of Compassion. She has spent over 10 years working professionally in the nonprofit sector and roughly 15 years when including volunteer work and schooling. Her focus areas include youth development, ministry, and support for individuals who have experienced domestic violence or homelessness. Wilson began her career in cosmetology, where state requirements as a mandated reporter sparked her interest in nonprofit work. This led to positions with JF Holder Foundations, which assisted families and youth experiencing homelessness, and Speak Up, which addressed discrimination. She recently started as a journalist for her local community paper, where she enjoys writing about community topics. Wilson earned her bachelor's degree under difficult circumstances, completing her studies while hospitalized and being wheeled across the stage at graduation after surgery. She is developing a podcast on career development and empowerment for women navigating transitional challenges such as housing, employment, and childcare.
