Her Interview

Ten minutes with Dana

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God, my family, and a strong foundation of faith. My dad taught me determination, while my mom instilled discipline, and being a mother motivates me to set a positive example for my children. I’ve also learned from my failures and developed a mindset of perseverance—never taking no for an answer. I live by the saying, “Can’t never could.”

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to lead with confidence and courage. Believe that you belong in every room you enter, stay curious, take safety seriously, and bring your strengths to work every day while continuing to build on them.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the nuclear field is the lack of education and understanding about nuclear energy, which can create unnecessary fear. I see an opportunity to increase awareness and encourage more women to pursue careers in the field, where their insights and perspectives can make valuable contributions.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are honesty and integrity—doing the right thing even when no one is watching. I also value a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and leadership. I believe in having the courage to change, never becoming complacent, continuing to learn, and always looking for ways to improve.
