What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to staying open to new opportunities, listening to mentors, and trusting my strengths. What began as a suggestion from a college professor led me from studying criminology to discovering a passion for international tax compliance at BDO. Mentorship has been key in my growth, and now I enjoy guiding others while continuing to challenge myself—most memorably when I led international tax training sessions in India, a milestone that reminded me how far curiosity and dedication can take you.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is that a good mentor doesn’t give you all the answers—they help you build a framework to find your own. I was also taught the importance of making decisions that align with my own goals and passions, creating a path that reflects my version of professional fulfillment rather than following someone else’s script.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I’d tell young women entering the field to build a career path that feels right for them, not one that just looks impressive to others. Success isn’t linear—it’s about staying curious, asking questions, and being willing to pivot as your goals evolve. Seek mentors who challenge you, make decisions that align with your values, and always lead with authenticity—your honesty and consistency will be what people remember most.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values I hold most important in my work and personal life are integrity, authenticity, and growth. I strive to stay true to my principles, show up as myself, and build genuine connections with others. I’m committed to continuous learning and helping others find their own direction, all while maintaining a positive mindset and leading with initiative rather than waiting to be managed.
