What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of drive, passion, and a commitment to excellence in everything I do. Building strong relationships, understanding client needs, and approaching sustainability and business development with both strategic insight and hands-on knowledge have been key to my growth. Being involved in community service through programs like Rebuild Together, while creating measurable impact in sustainability and ESG initiatives, has allowed me to lead, inspire, and deliver results consistently. I’ve found that balancing professional expertise with continuous learning and a genuine desire to make a difference for both clients and the communities I serve is what truly sets me apart.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from leaders who believed in me even when I was new to the industry: take risks, learn every day, and surround yourself with people who inspire and uplift you. Working alongside strong, influential women has shown me the power of collaboration, mentorship, and leading with integrity.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
For young women getting into sustainability and working at a place like Republic Services, what I want to emphasize is that this is not just a job, it's a career, and everybody embraces your learning and expansion. Never stop learning, because if you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room. I always feel like putting yourself into places where you can learn and grow is always a better way to become a better individual and a person. Continue to hone in on your skill sets, be open to new opportunities, and don't be scared. Always take that leap.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field include navigating a traditionally male-driven industry and integrating rapidly evolving sustainability standards like ESG reporting, fleet electrification, and operational decarbonization. At the same time, these shifts create opportunities for women leaders to shape the future of sustainable business practices.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
What's most meaningful to me is the community engagement work we do at Republic Services in the communities we serve. Rebuild Together is incredibly rewarding because it helps communities in underserved areas, providing resources and homes for people who need them. We've worked in Englewood rebuilding gardens, facilities, painting, and building decks for people in underserved areas. We are blessed to be able to do these things together and provide better lives for those in our communities, which is at the core of what our company is focused on. I'm incredibly proud that we've been voted the most ethical company nine years running, which is absolutely unheard of. It makes me proud to work somewhere that truly makes a difference and brings fulfillment to my life and career. In my downtime, I love spending time outdoors, I love architecture and the art museums around the city. I love trying new restaurants and exploring different neighborhoods of Chicago to experience their cultures, the atmosphere, and different foods. I thoroughly enjoy being able to enjoy my surroundings and the beautiful areas that are lesser known within Chicago.
