Ten minutes with Daniela

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of hard work, perseverance, my family, and the mentors who have supported and guided me throughout my journey. My mother has been one of my greatest mentors and biggest sources of encouragement—not only in my career, but in every aspect of my life and education. She always encouraged me to believe in myself, challenge my own limitations, never become complacent, and recognize that with determination, gratitude, and hard work, I could accomplish anything I set my mind to.

My family has also been an important source of strength and motivation, and I’m grateful for the sacrifices and support that have helped me along the way. I also credit the mentors I’ve encountered throughout my career, each of whom has taught me something valuable and helped shape the professional I am today. Ultimately, my success reflects the combination of their guidance and support, my willingness to learn and grow, and the hard work, perseverance, and sacrifices I’ve made to get where I am today.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is something my mother has reminded me of throughout my life: never limit yourself and never stop growing. She taught me to believe in what I’m capable of, to work hard for what I want, and to never let my circumstances define what I can achieve. As a first-generation professional, that advice has stayed with me throughout my career. I’ve learned that you don’t always have to have everything figured out—you just have to be willing to take the next step, learn from the people around you, and keep moving forward. I’ve been fortunate to have mentors along the way who challenged me, believed in me, and encouraged me to take on opportunities that pushed me outside of my comfort zone. That mindset has shaped the way I approach my career today. I try to remain curious, open to learning, and willing to take on new challenges. Most importantly, I hope to give others the same encouragement and support that my mother and my mentors gave me.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the legal field is to never limit yourself or let imposter syndrome consume you. As a first-generation professional, I didn’t always have a roadmap, but I learned to trust myself, work hard, and keep moving forward. The legal field can be challenging, particularly as women working in a traditionally male-dominated industry. We have to advocate for ourselves, but just as importantly, we have to support one another. Find mentors who will challenge and encourage you, take opportunities that push you outside your comfort zone, and remember to reach back and help someone else along the way. Women are incredibly resilient, and when we support each other and believe in ourselves, there is so much we can accomplish.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges is keeping up with how quickly technology and AI are changing the legal field, but I also see that as a great opportunity to improve efficiency and how we manage cases. On a personal level, as a first-generation professional and a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field, I’ve had to overcome imposter syndrome and learn to recognize that I earned my place through hard work and perseverance. I also see a great opportunity for more women to step into leadership, support one another, and create opportunities for the next generation.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I’d say the values that are most important to me are integrity, continuous growth, and advocacy. I believe in doing the right thing even when no one is watching, always looking for ways to learn and improve, and using my work to advocate for vulnerable individuals who may not have a voice. Personally, kindness, gratitude, loyalty, and family are really important to me. I try to lead with kindness, give back to my community, be grateful for the people and opportunities in my life, and always prioritize my loved ones.
