Her Story

About Daniella

I started my ecommerce business with my partner Daniel after graduating in 2018. We began small, with only 200 games and an investment we said we could cover and pay back to our credit cards if it didn't work out, because we had jobs that would pay for it. We've learned everything along the way by self-educating, speaking to some other Amazon sellers at the beginning, but mostly figuring it out ourselves. What's made everything work is the fact that we've been able to understand each other in how we both work and take advantage of the strengths and weaknesses we both have, pinpointing exactly what we need to thrive in the business. We're Livaba ambassadors, and we've created a free digital magazine for our customers that comes out every month and a half with everything regarding couples - imagine a regular magazine, but every section like finance, fashion, tips, cooking is targeted specifically for couples. We're working on creating a network of people that couples can go to whenever they need advice, and as we create those relationships with other professionals, we hope to do our own nonprofit to help other couples, maybe even pay for therapy and stuff like that.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say take it one step at a time. A lot of people wait until they have this huge structure to be able to launch a business, and in reality, you can go step by step without risking your entire investment and all your time and effort into doing something that you don't know if it's gonna work. When we started, we first started with only 200 games and with an investment that we said, okay, if this doesn't work out, it's something that we could cover and pay back to our credit cards or whatever, because we have a job that will pay for it. As we started growing, we started escalating little by little instead of going full throttle, because you want to make sure that if entrepreneuring or a business idea is something that you have, you don't run out of all your assets in your first try. A lot of people think that you have to have the perfect website, the perfect social media, the perfect photographer, the perfect everything to be able to have a business, and in reality, you can go little by little and fix every aspect that you want perfectly as you grow, and not necessarily go entirely in debt at the beginning.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

First, understanding the market, I would say, is a big one. A lot of people have these great ideas for beautiful products, and most of them are great ideas, but I think understanding that if there's no demand for that product, it doesn't matter how much passion you have selling that, it's gonna be really hard. I would say finding a product that works, and then really working your marketing strategy to be able to sell that product. The competition's out there, but what makes you stand out is key.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think I value being happy over everything. I think a life spent not being happy is something wasted, so that's what I try to emphasize, not only in our work environment, but for our employees. I want to make sure that they're doing well. One of our mottos is changing the world one happy couple at a time, because we do believe happy households are the foundation for happy individuals. Putting your happiness above everything will make sure that everything else just falls into place.
