About Danielle
Danielle Bommel is a financial-services and compliance professional with more than 14+ years of experience spanning consumer and business banking, KYC, BSA/AML, financial investigations, regulatory compliance and privacy, risk management, testing, and monitoring. She currently serves as Founder and Managing Partner of Zero Dollar Strategy, where she provides consulting and development services through trainings, workshops, masterminds, and structured development programs. Her professional background spans major U.S. and global financial institutions, and she currently serves in regulatory compliance and privacy within the financial technology and payments sector. Danielle combines her financial-industry expertise with formal education in human resources and project management. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management from Strayer University. She also holds the Credit Union Compliance Officer (CUCO) certification from America's Credit Unions and is pursuing a Microsoft certificate focused on Enterprise AI Governance, Ethics and Security. Her professional interests increasingly intersect with the evolving relationship between financial services, regulatory compliance, privacy, technology, and artificial intelligence. Through Zero Dollar Strategy, Danielle applies her experience to personal and business development, with a particular interest in supporting entrepreneurs and small business owners. She is also developing a digital platform featuring products and resources focused on financial literacy and professional development for a global audience. Her initiatives include supporting entrepreneurs in Suriname, her home country, as they prepare for anticipated opportunities associated with the country's developing oil and gas sector. She is a member of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics and has previously served as a Fellow and Chairman of the Academy of Finance.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the combination of my financial-services experience, commitment to continuous learning, and willingness to take on new challenges. My career has allowed me to develop expertise across banking, KYC, BSA/AML, financial investigations, regulatory compliance and privacy, and risk management. I have also continued to expand my knowledge through education, professional certifications, and emerging areas such as AI governance.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to sit at the head of the table and not be afraid to take my place. I have learned not to be intimidated by others, to be proud of who I am and what I bring to the table, and to recognize my own worth. Confidence, self-belief, and the willingness to step forward have been important throughout my professional journey.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women entering my industry to embrace challenges and approach their work with a positive attitude. Bring positivity to your team, because the energy and support you give to others often comes back to you. Most importantly, lead by example and demonstrate through your actions the qualities you want to see in those around you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I see an ongoing opportunity to use my financial experience to help businesses grow while giving them greater confidence and security in their financial decisions. I want to continue applying my knowledge and experience to help businesses navigate financial considerations, make informed decisions, and create a strong foundation for sustainable growth.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, honesty, loyalty and kindness are the values that are most important to me. I believe in treating others with kindness and respect, helping people who are in need, and consistently doing what is right. I also value perseverance and believe in continuing to push forward, even when challenges arise, and never giving up.
