Her Story
About Danielle
Danielle Bower serves as Assistant Artistic Director of Dance at the Grier School, a position she has held for 11 years. With more than 25 years of experience in the performing arts, she has built a career that spans professional dance performance, arts administration, and education. She danced professionally with a contemporary ballet company and previously served as Artistic Coordinator and Performance Company Director for the Rock School. In her current role, Danielle teaches ballet, contemporary, and jazz to pre-professional students, prepares choreography, and provides student mentorship to guide them toward their career goals. She also teaches at the Performing Arts School of Central Pennsylvania, which hosts the Nittany Ballet, and engages in freelance teaching across Pennsylvania. Danielle recently completed a master's degree, adding to her strong foundation in dance education and arts administration.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Go big or go home. Don't make yourself feel small. Pursue leadership roles confidently.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Especially for women and young girls wanting leadership positions, there are not a lot of pathways. I'd like to see more leadership and pipeline training in dance education and the dance industry to help young women access leadership roles.
