Her Interview
Ten minutes with Danielle
01What do you attribute your success to?
I haven't done it alone. I have a very, very, very good support system at home. But I feel like my determination to leave my mark have gotten me to where I'm at. Without the support of my family I couldn't do it. I attribute my success a lot to them for allowing me to grit, work full-time, help raise 4 kids, and put myself through school as well. But my family is the main attribute for that. But I have a very strong determination too. When I've set my mind to something, I get it done.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Be a coffee bean. When you put an ice cube in a pot of boiling water, it melts. When you put a coffee bean in a pot of boiling water, nothing happens, the water changes around the coffee bean, so be a coffee bean. Be the change that you want. Just be adaptable, but don't change who you are to fit your surroundings. Allow your surroundings to fit your life, to fit who you are. Don't change who you are to fit something else.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't take any opportunity for granted. And be yourself along the way. Again, be a coffee bean. Don't change who you are to fit the mold of the corporation, or the corporate world, or the thing you think is expected of you. Changing who you are is only going to hurt you, not change the outcome of your success.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty. Presence. I am a big accountability person. My top 5 core strengths are Achiever, Arranger, Learner, Restorative, and Responsibility. I try to live by those within my career and also personally. I get things done. But I'm also open-minded. I have to be able to adapt my strengths to other people's. So I'm adaptable too. Adaptability falls in line with those core values too. And kindness goes a long way too.
