Her Story
About Danielle
Danielle Reeves Calcara is an experienced marketing and brand executive with more than 18 years of leadership across film, broadcast television, and global brand strategy. She began her career in film and television, studying film in school and developing a strong foundation in storytelling, visual communication, and audience engagement. That creative foundation led her into broadcast television, where she built her expertise on the marketing side of the industry, focusing on audience growth, brand development, and multi-platform storytelling. From there, she advanced into senior leadership roles where she has consistently driven large-scale brand transformation and organizational growth.
She currently serves as Senior Vice President of Marketing at NewGround International, a global design-build and brand architecture firm based in St. Louis with work spanning North America and international markets. In this role, she leads global marketing strategy, brand positioning, communications, experiential marketing, media relations, trade shows, and integrated engagement initiatives. She also oversees outside media strategy and leads a team responsible for delivering cohesive internal and external brand experiences. In addition, she represents the company as a spokesperson and speaker at industry conferences, client engagements, and media events.
Prior to NewGround, Danielle spent several years in senior marketing leadership at KMOV in St. Louis, where she led a major transformation of the legacy broadcast station. She directed the full rebrand and relocation from its long-standing downtown facility of nearly 50 years into a new 50,000-square-foot state-of-the-art headquarters, aligning the physical space with a modernized brand identity and audience strategy. Her leadership unified marketing, creative, and operational teams through a complex transition that resulted in record-breaking ratings and sustained market leadership. Throughout her career, she has earned 10 regional Emmy Awards, 11 Global Entertainment Marketing Academy Awards, and two national Edward R. Murrow Awards, reflecting her impact across both creative and strategic marketing disciplines.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Danielle
01What do you attribute your success to?
I have enjoyed all of the people that I've met and been able to grow from. There are so many people that help lead you to where you are, and I try to pay it forward and be one of those people for others. It's just invaluable, the connections that I've made, the friendships that I've built, and the people that have helped me grow to who I am today. When people ask what I've enjoyed most about my journey, it's really those relationships and the opportunity to learn from others and then help guide others in return.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do the work. I think that a lot of people focus on where am I going to go from here, what is my next step, and for me, I have found that I always naturally find my next step whenever I just fully invest myself in the job that I'm doing today. So even if it is an entry-level position that you don't really think is leading to what's next, I just say, just do the work, because the work will lead you to what's next. Don't worry so much about the future path - focus on being fully invested in where you are right now, and that investment will naturally open the doors to your next opportunity.
