Her Story

About Danielle

I've been in the specialty pharmacy field for 15 years, and it's been an incredible journey driven by my passion for helping people. I started at Walgreens Retail while I was interested in the nursing program at school. My mom worked for the hospital, and she brought me along to a volunteer event where we were helping people with EKGs. I was like, wow, this is giving back to the community, you're helping people, you're learning about people, and still within the medical field. That experience made me think that maybe with Walgreens having a pharmacy, I could get into learning about medication and have that type of background. I worked my way through retail pharmacy and eventually moved into specialty pharmacy, where I discovered I could really build relationships with patients dealing with complex diseases. Before joining Prime Therapeutics Specialty Pharmacy a year and three months ago, I was with Walgreens Specialty Retail as an operations manager. Now at Prime, I have a team underneath me, and basically what we do is make sure we get prescriptions out on time to patients, providing patient care like how we would want our loved ones to be treated. That's their basic model - we want our patients to be treated how a family member would be treated. We make sure that their medication is cost-effective, we have open communication, reaching out to doctors' offices to make sure we have all of the patient information and demographics. We're helping patients with complex disease states, and especially with medications that are so high cost, the services that we offer mean patients are thankful that someone took the time to talk to them and walk them through how we can help and support them.

Ten minutes with Danielle

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think it's just really self-motivation, and like I keep saying, it really is helping people. I feel like that's why I'm here, is to give back, help people, help others really strive to be great, too. I mean, we're all in this together, so I just want myself to achieve good things, as well as my team and others. That drive to see everyone succeed and support one another has been what's kept me going throughout the years.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid to ask for help. You know, we're women, we tend to take on so many things all at once, and we're like, no, we got it, we got it, but really, it's like, you know, don't be afraid or ashamed to be like, hey, maybe I don't know this, because again, we're all in this together, we're all in the same boat trying to work it through and push on. It's okay to admit when you need support - that's how we all grow and succeed together.
