Her Story

About Danielle

Danielle Jefferson is currently an undergraduate student at Howard University studying for a bachelor's degree in health science with a focus on rehabilitation sciences. She plans to pursue her doctorate of physical therapy at the University of Southern California, where she is drawn to the health innovation lab and opportunities to work with sports teams, particularly supporting female athletes. Jefferson gained practical experience through an internship at Clinica Albareta, a traumatology clinic in Barcelona, Spain, along with other healthcare-related internships. An accomplished track and field athlete, she was an All-American for more than six years, an experience that instilled in her the values of hard work and self-care. She is a member of the Beta Kappa Chi National Scientific Honor Society and founded the REM club at Howard University to foster student community through health and fitness. Jefferson volunteers with Precious Pearls Youth Outreach Organization, working with young girls on self-empowerment and community service, and with FAMA, the Babies and Mother Alive Foundation, supporting mothers in Uganda. She also operates Crochet Estellar, a small business creating crocheted items and donating portions to local shelters. Jefferson attributes her success to her parents' support in providing specialized programs and strong schools from a young age, as well as the discipline gained from track and field.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Danielle

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success largely to my parents who put me in specialized programs and great schools from a young age. My drive comes from track and field which taught me to work hard and take care of myself.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Try everything, put yourself out there, don't be afraid of falling or fear. Dream big and try to achieve bigger. It's okay to fail, what matters is getting back up and giving your best effort. Seize every opportunity whether academic, pre-professional, or social.
