Her Story
About Danielle
Danielle Lebed is a medical device sales professional serving as an Account Executive with MICRO-TECH Endoscopy USA. She has worked in medical device sales since 2005 and specializes in gastroenterology, colorectal surgery, and GI medical devices. With seven sales awards to her credit, in her current role she serves customers across upstate New York and works with physicians in gastroenterology and colorectal surgery. She is excited for her newly created position and territory with Micro-tech. As a veteran she chose to finish her career in a company that values equality, opportunity, and professional growth. The request to reunite with respected colleagues from the past, a direct manager with established sales strengths, and a female sales director made the decision easy. Her responsibilities include ensuring product availability, physician and staff case support, nurse and tech training, sales training, clinical and associate mentoring, hospital and surgery center contracts, and conference support. Lebed's career also includes previous experience with STERIS, where she served as a Procedural Surgical Capital Account Manager and Senior Medical Device GI Procedural professional. Earlier in her career, she worked in pharmaceutical and medical sales roles with AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson, supporting gastroenterology, neuroscience, OB/GYN, and urology. Lebed studied Cardiovascular Science at Northeastern University, providing her with an academic foundation in science and healthcare. Lebed attributes her success to her personal mission of helping patients, inspired in part by her mother's long-term GI disease. She believes that having a strong sense of purpose can transform a job into a mission and prioritizes patient care over quotas and obstacles. She is also passionate about supporting and mentoring women in the medical device industry, encouraging them to pursue the profession, find balance while managing family responsibilities, and seek guidance from experienced female mentors.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Danielle
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my personal mission to help patients, particularly because my mother has a long-term GI disease. Having a strong “why” that drives me makes my work feel less like a job and more like a mission. I put patient care first and remain focused on helping patients rather than on quotas or roadblocks.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Never let the pressures of the industry influence your behavior. Remain patient focused and seek a company that supports its representatives and fosters a positive environment. Win as one!
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women that they can succeed in this profession. I have three children and successfully built my career while raising them, so finding the right balance is important. Medical device sales is a great profession regardless of whether you are male or female. I also encourage women entering the industry to reach out to a female mentor who has experience and can provide guidance and support.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The industry of healthcare is constantly evolving. Learning to navigate the changes and how they affect my position is a constant process and evaluation. Companies can have gaps where challenges become counter productive. Believe in your abilities and represent a company that supports representatives in the field and values your feedback. A company that values sales can produce a rewarding career and implement changes that benefit patients. Making a difference matters.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being seen as more than a yearly number is what I value most in my career, and personally the constant love, support and encouragement from my family. I am fortunate to be in this industry and have a career I enjoy.
With supportive managers who bring your strengths to the table, show inclusive mentoring, and allow opportunities to share your attributes to grow the value of your entire organization make the career worth every challenge.
