Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I'm very ambitious and hardworking. If I have a goal in mind, I do not give up, even when difficulties and setbacks arise. I've always been someone whose mind is constantly going, and I push myself to achieve what I set out to do. That determination and refusal to give up is what has driven my success throughout my career and now as I launch my own business.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I've received throughout my career is definitely about finding balance. I'm someone whose mind is always going, and sometimes when that happens, you just get overworked. Finding the balance between work and personal life was something I really needed to hear, because I would get burnt out too quickly. It has stayed with me and continues to be important as I navigate my new business while being home with my young children.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never give up on your goals and dreams. If you are like me and can see the BIG picture, set small goals to help you reach it. Don't expect overnight results, instant gratification, or BIG wins all the time. Celebrate efforts and small wins. Those will lead you to the BIG picture.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Unfortunately there are a lot of parents who are overworked, tired, and burnt out. Because of this, there is more of an interest in keeping kids busy rather than providing an independent activity with meaningful learning goals. The fortunate side of this is, with minor tweaks, activities we have our kids do to keep them busy can be as simple as sorting colored pouch caps from snack. I want to bring more awareness to how simple these activities can be so that a parent can easily get the chores completed or take that work call without feeling guilty.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Doing something meaningful is very important to me in both my work and personal life. That's why I wanted to become a teacher, to make a difference in children's' lives. Both my husband and I feel that making connections to the real-world out there is what helps our children learn, so we're always traveling with them. We also believe in hands-on, experiential learning through nature and real-world experiences, not just sitting with flashcards and screens. I'm very much a sports person so I incorporate a lot of game-based learning into my personal and professional live. Spending quality time with family while also pursuing meaningful work that helps other families is what matters most to me. And is honestly the reason I started my own business!
