What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my upbringing and the values instilled in me by my family. My grandfather, a man of discipline and honor, served at the end of World War II, throughout the Korean War, and into the beginning of Vietnam. From a young age, my grandparents emphasized the importance of lifelong learning, resilience, and integrity, which have guided me throughout my personal and professional journey.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received came from a mentor who left the corporate world eight years before I did. He told me, “What are you waiting for? You are wasted.” That advice challenged me to step into my potential, trust my abilities, and take bold action toward my entrepreneurial goals.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women to embrace all their emotions—fear, doubt, and elation alike—and to trust in their vision once they’ve validated their market. Imposter syndrome is universal, but it cannot hold you back. It’s also essential to find a strong mentor who can guide you, offer perspective, and help you navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in entrepreneurship today is the significant gender disparity in funding. Less than 2% of all VC, PE, and angel investment money goes to women entrepreneurs, highlighting both a challenge and a critical opportunity to create change in the industry.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Transparency and humor are the values I hold most dear. Transparency ensures trust and authenticity in all my interactions, while humor helps alleviate anxiety and fear, keeping both myself and my teams grounded and resilient.
