Ten minutes with Danielle
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is do not take advice from people who are not actively doing what you are trying to accomplish, because they can't give you advice. It's opinion. If you want to excel in anything, you have to get underneath somebody who is doing the work.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Maintain who you are, because I think sometimes we can become so successful that you lose sight of who you are, and no success is worth you losing yourself, losing your integrity. Maintain integrity in your business bills. If you say that you're not gonna sing in certain places or go certain places, hold true to that. I'm really big on being obedient to the Word of God, and I'm even not every door is a God opportunity. Sometimes things come to you to deter you, to try to make you compromise, so I would say stay true to who you are.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My biggest challenges in real estate are there are some times that you cannot help everybody, no matter how much you want to. You just sometimes cannot. I think that's been my biggest challenge in me being very hard on myself when I'm trying to figure out how to get something done. For instance, if I have somebody who's like 6 months behind on their mortgage, and I'm trying for them not to get into a foreclosure, but sometimes it'll have to be a short sale. I've been dealing with a lot of short sales lately. As far as opportunities, I've had so many opportunities to not only go places and sing, create music, do different things, because I meet all type of people, and that has been also very rewarding, because I'm very big on my faith. And anytime that I can share Jesus, I've been able to share Jesus in my music, share Jesus in my business, so that's always been a plus, too.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Besides faith, which is number one, I've been big on giving my friends opportunities, so like I know my business has grown to the point to where I'm like, you know what? Let's try to spread the wealth. Because I'm heavy on the scripture that we should do good, especially to those who are in the kingdom of God. Spread the wealth so that we all can win.
