Her Story

About Danielle

Danielle Thomas serves as owner of NextGen Legacy Builders Remodeling, a general contracting and remodeling company located in Pompano Beach, Florida. She transitioned from a nearly 20-year career in finance and corporate environments, where she advanced through mentorship and hands-on experience, to launch her own business. Thomas earned an associate's degree after returning to school in her early 30s, motivated in part by a desire to demonstrate to her family that it is never too late to pursue self-improvement. She credits her professional achievements to an internal drive to prove her abilities to herself, alongside the support of her family. In her work, Thomas emphasizes values of honesty, dependability, and gratitude, and she advises treating employees with respect and dignity, as one of her professors recommended treating people who work for you like they could be your boss one day.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Danielle

01What do you attribute your success to?

What keeps me going is just not to prove to anyone else that I can do it, but to prove to myself that I can do it. And also, my kids, my family.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Treat people that work for you like they could be your boss one day. Treating my people with respect, with dignity. I don't expect them to ever do anything that I wouldn't do myself. Also, one of my managers said 'I might have opened the door, but you're the one that walked through it.'

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just to never give up and believe in yourself. Believe that you can do it, you can get to where you want to be. I spent my whole life believing and living for everyone else, and I didn't believe in myself, and it wasn't until I said, you know what? You deserve good things. You deserve a good career. You deserve happiness, you deserve success, you deserve abundance.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My values are honesty, dependability, gratitude. I'm really big on being grateful for everything in life, the small, the bad, the ugly. Everything. And just being kind, being thoughtful and considerate of everyone, because everyone's going through something.
