Danisha Dillard-Walker is a dedicated healthcare professional with a passion for fostering positivity, communication, and inclusive leadership. She currently serves as Practice Supervisor at Norton Healthcare, where she has spent over six years advancing through roles from Medical Assistant to Assistant Manager, demonstrating her commitment to excellence in patient care and team development. Danisha is known for her strong sense of responsibility and her ability to develop and mentor others, helping colleagues thrive in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Her educational journey reflects her dedication to professional growth, holding an Associate’s degree in Medical/Clinical Assisting from Spencerian College and currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Leadership at the University of Louisville, with expected completion in 2026. Beyond formal education, she participates in leadership programs through her employer, preparing her for increasingly impactful roles in healthcare management. She is also an active member of Women Influencing Louisville (WIL) and serves on the board of her company’s Employee Resource Group (ERG), advocating for inclusion and professional development.
Outside of her professional life, Danisha is deeply committed to her community and faith. She serves as a trustee at her church and enjoys volunteering, shopping, and spending quality time with her family. The best career advice I’ve ever received is to be patient and not take everything too seriously.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering my industry to speak up, have confidence, and know their worth. It’s also essential to have a strong support system and actively build your professional network.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is wanting to please everyone while recognizing that it’s not possible, especially when it means having to tell patients “no.” Learning to set boundaries and communicate effectively in these situations is both a challenge and an important opportunity for growth.
