Her Interview

Ten minutes with Daphnee

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a strong work ethic, a positive mindset, and a disciplined approach to handling setbacks. I don’t view rejection as the end but as feedback that helps me improve and refine my approach. While I allow myself to acknowledge challenges briefly, I quickly shift into problem-solving and focus on results. Raised by two engineers, I was taught to prioritize goals, trust the process, and address emotions after taking action—an approach that has supported my success in both my finance career and entrepreneurial journey.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is that persistence and preparation create opportunity. I’ve learned that success comes from continuously learning, adapting to challenges, and staying committed to excellence regardless of circumstances.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering the finance industry to be prepared for a challenging but rewarding path that requires discipline, resilience, and long-term commitment. The first years can be especially demanding, often requiring sacrifices in time and personal commitments while you build your foundation. Success comes from a willingness to continuously learn, adapt, and take a strategic approach to developing your client base, while viewing rejection as part of the learning process rather than a setback. At the same time, it’s important to maintain balance and have a strong support system, as managing multiple responsibilities requires both structure and understanding.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field include the increasing complexity of financial products and regulations, as well as the ongoing need to improve financial literacy in underserved communities. Additionally, helping clients navigate economic uncertainty while supporting long-term planning requires both adaptability and a strong advisory foundation. At the same time, there are significant opportunities, including growing demand for financial education and retirement planning, expanding access to financial services in diverse communities, and increased awareness around wealth-building and overall financial wellness. There is also a meaningful opportunity for women and minority professionals to step into leadership roles as trusted financial Professionals and make a lasting impact.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Ethics is one of the most important values in both my work and personal life. I believe in being fully transparent and honest with clients, ensuring they always receive accurate information—whether that means clearly explaining fees or setting realistic expectations about products and services. I apply the same principles in my personal life, as I believe integrity should remain consistent across all areas. Respect is also essential, particularly in honoring commitments, following through on promises, and consistently prioritizing the client’s best interest, even when it may not be the most beneficial for me financially.
